You Know You're Sovereign When

You know you're sovereign when the occupying army snatches the deputy head of your national assembly after he criticizes the actions of the occupying army, and nobody can even find out what the charges against him are.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's provisional parliament urged U.S.-led forces to free national assembly deputy head Naseer Ayef on Wednesday, a day after he was detained in a dawn raid on his house. "We call for his release and for the matter to be referred to the National Assembly which will investigate and take a legal position," it said in a statement.

...

U.S. forces detained Ayef, a senior member of the influential Sunni Iraqi Islamic Party on Tuesday. U.S. officials would not comment on the arrest.

The party pulled out of Iraq's U.S.-backed interim government a week ago in protest at an offensive to retake the rebel-held city of Falluja.

And why is this referred to as an "arrest"? Arrest is a legal procedure, it involves, laws, judges, charges... Not this: "The Americans took Naseer Ayef from his house at dawn, ... They shot one of his guards in the stomach and searched his house. We don't know why he was detained."

That story makes me want to root for the insurgents! GW should be dropped into the middle of a sunni mosque at prayer time.

The AP is reporting this statement from Allawi and the Puppets:

>>>>>The Iraqi government warned Thursday that Islamic clerics who incite violence will be considered "participating in terrorism," and said that a number of them have already been arrested.

"The government is determined to pursue those who incite acts of violence. A number of mosques' clerics who have publicly called for taking the path of violence have been arrested and will be legally tried," said Thair al-Naqeeb, Prime Minister Ayad Allawi's spokesman.

"Some mosque clerics incite people to kill the police and the National Guard...They're considered participating in terrorism."

Al-Naqeeb did not specify how many clerics have already been taken into custody.

Over the past two weeks, a number of Sunni Muslim clerics in Baghdad and other cities have been arrested by US and Iraqi forces, including several members of the influential Association of Muslim Scholars which has been at the forefront of criticism of the Fallujah operation.

In Najaf, an aide to radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr was arrested Thursday after speaking out against the US-led assault on Fallujah, a colleague said. Al-Sadr's followers are among the relatively few Shiites to condemn the operation against the Sunni insurgent stronghold of Fallujah.

Hashim Abu Regheef, a former member of an al-Sadr run Islamic court and the chief of the cleric's Najaf office, was taken into custody by Iraqi police, according to Abdul Hadi al-Daraji, another al-Sadr aide.

"Dozens of Sheik al-Sadr's aides have been detained by Iraqi police especially after we denounced the assault on Fallujah," al-Daraji told The Associated Press. "We warn the government about this dangerous escalation because it will have a negative impact on the peace agreement between us and the government" which ended fighting in Najaf last August.

The American tradition of rooting for the underdog is long over. As to GB the Christian Churches laud his arrival regardless of his crimes. And they are many, least of all pretending a brutal occupation is liberation. Election talk is just that, talk. While everyone talks from the safety of their ivory bunkers the occupation grinds along toward the three year mark.

Amerika disgusts me. Once I was sympathetic to them but that is before I studied history. It is the most evil, warmongering fkn country in the world. If you ever meet an American Airforce pilot SPIT IN HIS EYE!!! HE IS A MURDERING BASTARD THAT DROPS BOMBS ON CIVILIANS. These pigs think nothing of anyone not Amerikan. But the World rememebers and one day this evilempire.bom will be the Pariah of the World. Indeed, at the moment, all around the globe, the USA is in a War On Terra!
